As co-founder and CEO of Ocumetra, James brings extensive management expertise, vision, and leadership to the company. James has successfully led teams and initiatives that combine innovative technology with healthcare solutions. His experience spans strategic leadership, business growth, and operational excellence, making him a driving force in Ocumetra's mission to transform patient care through cutting-edge eye health technology. James champions inclusivity and diversity in building a high-performing team that reflects the partners and communities Ocumetra serves.
As co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer, Ian is instrumental in driving Ocumetra's visionary approach to myopia research and eye health technology deevelopemnt. His experience as a paediatric ophthalmologist and his pioneering work in eye growth modeling inform the development of our tools. With over two decades of research and entrepreneurial success, Ian's expertise fuels our scientific and technological advancements.
Leo serves on the Ocumetra Board, bringing extensive expertise in IT strategy and optical software. As CEO and founder of Ocuco, he has a proven track record in scaling businesses internationally. Leo is committed to leveraging technology to tackle global eye health challenges, making him a vital contributor to Ocumetra's growth and direction.
Richard joins the Ocumetra Board with extensive venture capital experience as Managing Partner of Furthr VC, an active early-stage investor. His background in R&D and operations in the medical device and semiconductor sectors, along with his engineering and business acumen, positions him well to support Ocumetra's business development and growth. His expertise in guiding growth-stage companies is a valuable asset to our leadership team.
Mayumi joins the Ocumetra Board with extensive venture capital and business experience as Senior Director of Business Development and a key member of THINC Ventures, CVC arm of Topcon Healthcare. Throughout her career, she has led a number of commercial partnerships, joint ventures, M&A and other types of alliances in the healthcare companies. Her active involvement in investing and supporting start-up companies in the ophthalmic space brings connections and opportunities for Ocumetra's growth.
Arthur joins the Ocumetra board with a wealth of clinical experience as a career cataract and refractive surgeon. With three decades of dedication to patient care, clinical practice and clinical studies, his expertise in comprehensive refractive and cataract surgery is widely recognised. Arthur's contributions to the field include MAB positions, editorial and leadership roles. His position on the Alcon board confirms his commitment to good governance and strategic planning.
Consultant Advisors
Tony is a quality professional with progressive experience and responsibilities in international Quality Systems Management & Regulatory Affairs, within both regulated and non-regulated markets. Tony brings a very effective mix of business acumen & best practice thinking, while providing a consistent, hi-impact approach to compliance in all aspects of customer or regulation-driven expectations. He has successfully hosted & audit managed multiple inspections from US FDA, HPRA, MHRA, HC, JPAL, ANVISA, GOST & various product Safety Agencies (UL, CSA, HSA, SIRA, FM etc), as well as audits by customers. Very experienced QMS and compliance-focused lead auditor of internal systems & global supply base, against 13485, 21CFR820, 21CFR11, 9001, and ICH GCP E6.
Brett has over 25 years of experience in energy, finance, health, and med-tech sectors, specializing in Medical Device Regulations, Market Access, Information and Cyber Security, and Artificial Intelligence. He is proficient in international standards (ISO 13485, 9001, 27001, 42001, 14971) and regulatory frameworks (UK MDR, EU MDR, ANVISA, TGA, Canadian regulations). Brett is also experienced with the UK's DTAC, DSP Toolkit, and Cyber Essentials. Currently, he focuses on integrating AI within medical devices in the UK, US, Brazil, Canada, and the EU, addressing ethical and regulatory challenges. Through rigorous internal audits and consultancy, Brett ensures Ocumetra's ISMS is built with organizational need, risk assessment, and known vulnerabilities in mind and meets the highest standards in information security.
