Ian is our co-founder and Chief Innovative Officer. He is a paediatric ophthalmologist who has been involved with myopia research for over two decades and is a recognised opinion leader in the area of myopia management. As well as clinical research, much of his work has been in computational and mathematical approaches to eye growth. He is the creative force behind our products. An eye surgeon and tech inteupreneur by day, a writer by night. Along with more than 30 scientific peer-reviewed papers, Ian authored fiction books Journey by Starlight & The Reluctant Cannibals.

Kate is our dynamic Director of Operations at Ocumetra, a role she has excelled in since the company's early days. With a decade of experience in eye health research and a solid medical background, Kate's expertise is a cornerstone of Ocumetra's success. Her responsibilities are vast, spanning product design, regulatory strategies, and human resources among others. Kate's meticulous and versatile approach ensures that every facet of the company's operations runs smoothly, affirming her pivotal role in the team. Outside of work, Kate enjoys Crossfit, cooking & taking her frenchie Cashew for long walks.

As our Software Development Manager, James spearheads our talented team of developers. With an impressive tenure of over 25 years in the software industry, James excels in managing intricate projects and cultivating high-performing teams dedicated to crafting superior products. His passion for embracing new technologies, solving complex problems, and delivering significant value to customers and stakeholders is a cornerstone of his professional ethos. Outside of work, James is a fervent scuba diver and an active member of the County Longford Scuba Divers Search and Recovery team. He regularly collaborates with national agencies on recovery missions throughout Ireland's extensive waterways, demonstrating his commitment to his community alongside his professional pursuits.

Liadain Murphy is Ocumetra's Marketing Director. She drives our marketing and commercial strategies and is responsible for building our brand presence and scaling customer acquisition efforts. Armed with an M.Sc., a B.Sc. and over 15 years of experience in marketing, leadership and product design, she blends creativity and strategic thinking in everything she does. Her passion for eye health on a personal and professional level has not only deepened her expertise but also shaped her commitment to creating meaningful marketing strategies that drive positive change in the industry. Outside of work, Liadain loves exploring new places, diving into a great book, and dedicating her time to fundraising for several eyecare causes.

Toma is our Regulatory Affairs and Market Access specialist. His expertise spans medical device regulatory affairs, digital health, and market strategy development, where he skillfully navigates the complex intersections of healthcare and business. Toma is deeply committed to continual professional development, embracing every opportunity to learn and advance in his field. Gareth is our Clinical Data Analyst at Ocumetra, where he specializes in the development and testing of clinical data analytic tools focused on childhood myopia management. Passionate about enhancing the clinical management of myopia, Gareth's work supports significant, lifelong improvements in vision-related quality of life for young people. He is also an orthoptist and postdoctoral research fellow at the Lions Eye Institute in Perth, Australia, with extensive experience in myopia research. This includes studying the benefits of outdoor activities in preventing myopia and slowing its progression. Gareth is keen on leveraging large data sets and novel analytical techniques to deepen the understanding and treatment of myopia in children and adolescents. Outside of his professional pursuits, Gareth is an arts and sports enthusiast, often found attending various events or improving his tennis skills.

Daniel is a Python specialist with 8 years of experience, passionate about turning complex challenges into user-friendly solutions. As a tech lead, He gained valuable expertise leading cross-functional teams, including developers, operations professionals, product managers, and QA analysts. His focus is on delivering consistent, high-quality software. Committed to lifelong learning, Daniel pursues certifications and explores new technologies, applying them to personal projects. A dedicated Muay Thai practitioner and gym enthusiast, he balances his technical pursuits with physical fitness. A fan of The Lord of the Rings, Daniel also believes The Matrix is an annual must-watch classic.
